We had an amazing time in Monticello. We did the tour of Jefferson's home, some of us lasted longer than others. Matthias and Anna got a little fussy while we were standing in Jefferson's library and I just couldn't stand the thought of ruining the trip for everyone on the tour so I found a tour guide who escorted me outside. The little's and I then found a more kid friendly location and I read them books and played games with them while the other half of our group finished the tour.
Prior to the tour we stopped by the more hands-on spot. We had a great time experiencing life during Jefferson's time.

After Monticello, we piled into the van and headed to Portsmouth, VA, or P-town, that's what the local's call it. The entire morning it had been threatening to rain and we weren't sure how much of Monticello we'd get to see. The rain held off until we climbed into the van and then the sky opened and unleashed a gorgeous storm. Here's pics that Nic took. He wanted to show how windy and wet it was.
To get to my sisters home you get to go through underwater tunnels and on bridges. We passed the shipyard and Matthias was in heaven as he watched the trains and "Cranky the Crane" at work. For me, the best moment of the day was arriving at my sisters home and seeing her family!!
