Argh Matey

Yesterday we visited the Eye doctor for Nic and Isaak. It was an interesting visit. Isaak will now be wearing glasses. He was every excited about the opportunity to join the ranks of those who have gone before. He will also be sporting an eye patch for every minute he spends at home.

Eye doc says he's got Amblyopia. So he's going to be looking like this until we fix it.

Although in future settings at home he may choose to wear his shirt right side out and tag in the back. I'll leave that up to his discretion.

Isaak is actually dealing with this just fine. It may have been because Doc said, "Watching TV and playing video games is really good for the development of his eye. It will require him to really focus the "bad" eye."
How many kids leave the doc office with a prescription to watch TV and play video games? I'm so glad we bought that Wii. Who knew it would in the end be a necessity?

Oh, the pirate jokes around the house are in abundance. Most of us have tried the patch on. We all look pretty cool. I am a little worried Isaak will ask for a parrot to sit on his shoulder. It's not unlike him to milk things when he knows the advantage is in his court.

He is also excited for Halloween this year because he figures he's got the start of a really great costume.
